BECOME A THERAPY TEAM
Our pet therapy teams consist of a human and their therapy animal. Sunshine Therapy Animals will help volunteers and their socialized, child-friendly and well-mannered pets become registered therapy animals through national organizations such as the Alliance of Therapy Dogs or Pet Partners. All volunteers are trained, given supplies, placed and supported throughout their time as a Sunshine Therapy Animal Volunteer. The first step to becoming an STA team is to email us to set up an informational meeting.

All potential volunteers will attend an information session at our offices. We provide an application and information on the requirements of becoming a certified therapy team.

Once a potential volunteer completes the application and registration process, we require them to attend a formal orientation/training session to review the therapy visit protocol and the volunteer manual.

Potential volunteers must now obtain the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) certification. Once accreditation is granted, Sunshine Therapy Animals can start scheduling therapy visits for the team.
